Anything you wish you would've done pre-op??
If you could go back to pre-op, not that any of you would want to, but for the purpose of this question, is there anything you wish you'd done before surgery?
Did anyone buy a dream outfit? I was thinking of doing that. Buy a pair of jeans that are the size I want to be.
If you do buy something don't get it too small, just 2 or 3 sizes lower then where you are now so you don't have to wait too long.
What I would do is after my jeans would start to get big on me I went to the thrift store and got a pair in my current size and a pair in the next size below that, so I always had something that fit.
It seemed to go faster when I had several smaller goals instead of one big one.

Built a better support network locally. Found a Dr *****ally listened and was as concerned about me as I was / am. Most of all I wish I had been able to accept me for who I was.
Yes- I think having a dream article of clothing is good---but I agree it shouldn't necessarily be the smallest you want to be...but a milestone---like getting out of plus, then getting to single digits, then maybe a goal pair of pants. I also found keeping a pair of pants that fit me just right when I went into surgery helped me understand where I was before WLS. Measurements and picture are great!
When I got out of surgery and they were bringing me to recovery before taking me to my actual room, I woke up and I was shaking really, really hard. I didn't feel cold, but my teeth were going, my legs, my arms, everything was blurry and I couldn't tell what was happening. The nurses said it was okay and it happened sometimes and that it would stop soon, but I was so scared because this wasn't something I had heard of before.
In the end they were right and I was totally fine. It is apparently something to do with body temperature regulation after anesthesia, and it happens. I just wish that I had known about it beforehand so it wasn't so scary for me!
Please please please don't let this freak you out. I had an ideal surgery and a beautiful recovery (I had surgery on a Monday and was back to work the next Monday). No complications to speak of so far, everything is going down fine and I've always been able to get my water and protein in. Just a weird thing our bodies do, but I know I would've liked to know beforehand!
I have two pairs of jeans that are each one size smaller then I am now and one smaller then that. So, I figure I'll buy a pair of jeans out of the 20's. It's been 6 years since I was a size 18 womens. That will be a good moment. The next step will be getting out of the pluses.
Price, I am on a low carb diet, getting rid of the caffeine and soda, I drink at least 100oz of water per day. I am still dealing with head hunger, though. And I'm still hungry alllll the time.
One thing I want/need to work on is not drinking during a meal. I am a chugger! Take a bite and chug my water.
I understand about not getting a goal size pair of jeans. I don't even know if I could make it to my dream size. I don't know how my body will look thin. I haven't been under a size 14 in at least 16 years. Since then I've had kids and my body changed with that. Who knows if I will even be able to get to a small size. I think I would get depressed if I had that size 8 pair of jeans and never be able to fit in them.
Thank you all for your advice and words of wisdom. I suddenly feel the need to go shopping!!!
